Ora B. Douglass was elected President of the Georgia Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc. in August of 2022, after serving as the International Program Committee Chairman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. where she provided direction and oversight of the sorority’s program.
Mrs. Douglass is a dedicated Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha with over forty years of service. She was initiated into the Beta Alpha Chapter at Florida A&M University in May 1977. Through the years, she has served at the chapter level as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and chairman of various committees including Programs, Standards and Strategic Planning. In 2014, Mrs. Douglass led a group of members in the chartering of the Psi Omega Omega Chapter in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, where she served as President for nearly four years.
Mrs. Douglass earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Florida A&M University and her Master of Nursing Degree in Nursing Administration at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She retired from an esteemed career of over 37 years of progressive clinical, managerial, and healthcare administration. Her profession afforded her the opportunity to live her passion of serving and helping others. She is a veteran of the US Army Nurse Corps, with over 13 years of service in the US Army in Hawaii and the US Army Reserves in Atlanta. She established a track record of success as medical professional across multiple health care organizations including the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, Northside Hospital and Emory University Hospital.
As a nursing administrator, Mrs. Douglass gained extensive experience in strategic and tactical planning, coordinating, implementing, directing and evaluating all components of programs, particularly quality management. She leverages these core competencies to enable success in her community service with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and now as President of the Georgia Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc.

GPOS Board Members Erika Crosby, Jackie Dowdley, LaTisha Gregory, and Christine Smith joined the Robert D. Fowler YMCA and the Empty Stocking Fund on December 10, 2022.
GPOS Board Members acted as Santa's Little Helpers as they unloaded and sorted sacks of Christmas presents, and distributed toys and gifts to disadvantaged children.
GPOS Board Members' dedication to service and hard work on a chilly, rainy morning helped several grateful families have a much merrier Christmas!
